Successful Velvet Lovers

Hello My Cuppie Cakes!

My house mates had a Christmas party last Saturday. Which was exciting for me because any excuse to bake is always a win in my book. I did not mention in my last post that the reason for the macaroon attempt was for the Christmas party.
I gave them a go last week and it didn't work out. Without proper training I cannot tell you what I did wrong. But I can tell you that my second time around was very successful. I really love any type of butter cream frosting. So I filled the macaroons with strawberry butter cream.
I made them a few days in advance so that I wouldn't have to worry about making twice the amount of treats. As you read in my last blog I wanted to make red velvet cupcakes- with coconut butter cream.
I made a first batch to test out how well they would work for the party and they were amazing. My house mate (female) enjoyed them a whole bunch. She said they were moist and the coconut frosting was very delicate. Of course her husband doesn't fancy anything you give him unless there is bread involved. Surprisingly enough he really enjoyed the macaroons. So I suppose that's 1 for Ruthless and 0 for the chauvinist.

Speaking of the chauvinistic during this last week I was slightly worried that I wouldn't have the hand mixer to use because he likes the hide these types of things in his wardrobe. He's slightly OCD about everything. SMH.
I needed the hand mixer once and I couldn't find it anywhere. I was looking to paddle out my mash potatoes. (I find that it makes them more fluffy) I kept looking and no dice, so I thought let me ask the "MAN" of the this house.
He tells me its not clean enough. I have no words. Just the pure look of horror when I find out he's stashed it in the wardrobe.
His wife just didn't know what to say. All I'm thinking is... "how old are we?"
The next day she apologised to me and tried to explain her husband's neurotic behaviour. Its okay. In the end I got to use it and there were no further issues on the subject.

Red Velvet Cupcakes w/ Coconut Buttercream Frosting.

The cupcakes and the macaroons went down a treat. People thought the cupcakes were store bought. Nope. Nope.
They were made by Yours Truly.

I had so much fun making the cupcakes and the macaroons.
Eventually when I get back home to the UK. I will be able to start up my business properly.
I have been working a menu a bunch of ideas to get things rolling.
I am very excited and I hope that you all are too!

Love your mouth full of sugar.!
